School Admissions

We will have a meeting for parents/carers during the Summer Term prior to your child starting at our school in September.  This will allow you to meet the Headteacher and staff, look around the school, receive all necessary information and ask any questions. Invitation to this will be sent either to your home address or via your child’s Nursery.

Visit the Durham County Council website for information regarding the school admission process and primary school admissions.

To appeal against an admission decision visit: School admissions-appeals.

Before you complete an application, you are very welcome to make an appointment with us to look round the school and speak to the Headteacher. If you have any questions or would like to visit Ouston Primary School please contact us and we will do our best to help.

We also have nursery provision for 3-4 years with free 15 & 30hr places (30hr for those eligible).   Please see our Nursery Application Form below.

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

If your child is due to start our Reception Class and is already identified with having special educational needs or disabilities, we will work closely with their nursery during the Summer Term, visiting and observing your child in the nursery setting. We will attend/arrange meetings with parents, nursery staff and any outside agencies involved. The named contact (outside agencies) working with your child during nursery may change on entry into school. You will be kept informed of any changes and introduced to new people.

Where a child with SEND transfers into any of our other year groups, we will work very closely with their current schools and any agencies involved to ensure a smooth transition.

If you would like to discuss your SEND requirements in detail please contact the school to arrange an appointment.
